The World Health Organisation estimates that around 3.5 million premature deaths are caused by household air pollution (mainly open fires used for cooking) every year. We are working in Africa to evaluate approaches for reducing exposure to household air pollution and improving lung health particularly in women and children who are most affected by this problem.
