Director’s Foreword
There are a few rare individuals who embody LSTM’s vision, mission and
values. Herbert Gilles, a former Director of LSTM, was one such individual.
With his passing at the grand old age of 94, many sta , alumni and
collaborators have lost a dear colleague, mentor and friend.

The new Wolfson Building was opened in December and
