LSTM’s Seminar Series continued this week with a talk by George Davey Smith, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Bristol. His presentation entitled: Evidence for population health improvement: can genomics help? was introduced by LSTM’s Professor Paul Garner.

During the seminar he looked at how genetics and genomics are often seen as the antithesis of public health, but he suggested that they can make major contributions by helping to identify causal factors that can be intervened on to improve population health, contribute to more accurate assessment of potential risk factors and correctly perceive the relationship between determinants of individual and population health.
