A new section of LSTM's website has been launched, dedicated to the alumni and friends of LSTM.

The web pages are part of a wider project, tracking down those who have studied at LSTM, allowing them to share in the rich and varied history of the world’s oldest school of tropical medicine. “This is the first online space dedicated to those who have studied at LSTM,” said Lucy Halton, LSTM’s Alumni Project Officer. “LSTM’s alumni have gone on to address some of the biggest questions in global health, becoming true leaders in their fields and we think that it is important to celebrate that success.”

The web pages are designed as a point of reference for LSTM’s global alumni community and contains practical information as well as providing a space to find out about their fellow alumni’s successes, reconnect with people who have a shared experience at LSTM and sign up for the new quarterly newsletter. Most importantly the web pages signposts alumni to a new survey which is designed to help the team put together LSTM’s first ever alumni and friends database. Lucy Halton continued: “LSTM is not an ordinary higher education institution and this is not an ordinary alumni project. We want this to appeal to everyone who has studied here, be it for three weeks or four years, as well as all of those who consider themselves to be friends of this prestigious institution.”

The web pages already contain profiles of some of LSTM’s notable alumni, which will be added to as the project progresses, and Lucy is hoping to feature class photographs giving friends and alumni alike the opportunity to share their experiences. She said: “We are really keen that anyone who has studied at LSTM, or who considers themselves a friend, take a look at the new section of the website, so that we are able to build an alumni project around you, promoting your successes and building new successes for the future.”
