Physiological and behavioural mechanisms of insecticide resistance in Aedes aegypti from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau PhD studentship Ashwaq Alnazawi, supervised by Dr David Weetman and Professor Philip McCall.

This project is investigating the patterns and mechanisms of insecticide resistance within and between the major dengue hotspots in Saudi Arabia. With a primary focus on pyrtehroids, which are the mainstay for dengue vector control in Saudi Arabia, ongoing work is examining the importance of target site and metabolic resistance mechanisms and how these link with behavioural variation, in order to provide information for control programs.
