Meet Dr. Catriona Waddington, a seasoned and well-rounded health economist with over 20 years of experience in the field. With a diverse background and a wealth of knowledge, she has worked with some of the biggest names in global health, including DFID/ODA, GAVI, AusAID, and the Ethiopian Government. Her journey in the health sector also included a long-standing role at Mott MacDonald (formerly HLSP), which served as the health resource centre for DFID and allowed her to work with a variety of clients.
Dr. Waddington's journey in health economics began at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), where she was recruited by Professor Ken Newell as the school's first health economist. This opportunity allowed her to pursue her PhD while working at the school and her research focused on decision-making in the Ministry of Health in Ghana.

She was awarded a Gatsby Foundation scholarship, which made it possible for her to relocate to Ghana and complete her PhD fieldwork. Her main work is with the Fleming Fund, where she is involved in the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in low- and middle-income countries.
