Rosemary Ami Amegbedzi

Meet Rosemary Ami Amegbedz (MSc Global Health, 2021).

My name is Rosemary Ami Amegbedz. I have been in field of Public Health since 2015 when I started my undergraduate studies in the University of Health and Allied Sciences. During my undergraduate studies, I founded an NGO that promotes early detection and early treatment of breast cancer which facilitated my experience in advocacy, health promotion, program organisation and health communication. I just ended my role as a research assistant in the University of Health and Allied Sciences where I enhanced my skills in conducting research and writing research proposals and reports. Currently, I work with ‘Lead for Ghana’ a non-governmental organisation that focuses on improving education in Ghana. My interest in global health is motivated by my desire to be a global health leader to join other global health experts to promote and protect the health of people in Ghana and beyond through evidence-based policies. This interest developed during my undergraduate studies where I understood the importance of building healthy policies to create a conducive environment for people to live healthy lives.

My interest to study in Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is motivated by its dedication to developing the next generation of global health leaders. Over the years, LSTM has committed itself to achieving this vision by training and developing individuals into research experts and leaders. Also, LSTM has an intense curriculum which will enhance my analytic, technical, and practical skills to be the global health expert I envisage.

This scholarship has removed a lot of barriers and challenges I faced during my undergraduate studies. It has removed the financial burden since I cannot afford furthering my studies not to talk of affording tuition for one of the best universities in the world. I will now have the sound mind to study without worrying about tuition fees.

This scholarship has put me a step towards achieving my ambitions. It has given me the opportunity to be train as a global health leader and expert in one of the best universities in the world. I will gain the skill to be an expert in global health issues and diseases and improve on my skills and knowledge in research. Also, I will develop leadership skills to effectively work together with multi-disciplinary health disciplines to improve the health of people all around the world .This will be achieved through confronting global health threats as well as prevention and control of diseases.  I would like to use this opportunity to say thank you to my scholarship donors. I really appreciate this great opportunity to help me achieve my desires of being a global health leader. Once again, “thank you”.
