IMPALA work at UCT is led by Maia Lesosky, Senior Lecturer & Biostatistician at the Division of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, School of Public Health & Family Medicine at UCT. Maia leads the research data management aspect of IMPALA and she is particularly interested in TB disease progression and Bayesian mixture models for longitudinal HIV viral load data.

UCT is a research-intensive African university. Their research takes place within a number of formal research structures or grouping and research at UCT is also increasingly drawn together into interdisciplinary hubs that encompass a critical mass of researchers able to leverage South Africa’s geographic advantage, and show potential for strong collaboration nationally, across the continent and globally.
