Nursing & Midwifery Training Institutions Country-wide.  

LSTM is funded by Johnson and Johnson Foundation for three years, beginning April 2021 to March 2024, to support the design, implementation and evaluation of nursing/midwifery continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme in Kenya. This Programme supports the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) to revise the syllabi for nursing/midwifery programmes, develop a midwifery educator CPD programme and build capacity of 4 training hubs to deliver the CPD programme.  

Programme Objectives

Specifically, the programme:

Supports updating of pre-service nursing/midwifery syllabus.

Supports the standardisation of related curriculum at Nursing Council Kenya accredited training institutions;

Improves capacity of nursing/midwifery instructors through a sustainable system for CPD in Kenya.

Evaluates the effectiveness of the Nurse/Midwife educators CPD programme;

Supports the set up a functional secretariat for the Midwifery Association of Kenya (MAK);

Partners

LSTM will collaborate with among others, the National Ministry of Health (MoH), the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), the University of Nairobi and Moi University to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a nurse/midwives CPD programme in Kenya. This programme will focus on supporting these 30 institutions over 3 years.
