125th anniversary projects

Throughout our 125th Anniversary year we will be celebrating with an ambitious programme of events and activities, including:

125 Public lecture series – a series of events featuring prominent scientists and health practitioners. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Dame Sally Davies, UK Special Envoy on Antimicrobial Resistance, with a further lecture, as part of the Leverhulme series delivered by UK Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty. Further events will be scheduled throughout our anniversary year

Living Liverpool – a citizen science project, based on LSTM’s Swab and Send project, which engages the public in the hunt for new antibiotics. Living Liverpool will build a microbiology map of Liverpool with 125 swabs potentially looking for new active compounds and antibiotics

On your Soapbox – in partnership with Unilever there will be a microsite created with TED Talk inspired bite size vignettes about LSTM’s work, people, alumni and partners

LSTM Past, Present and Future – a Heritage Lottery Fund project celebrating the history of the institution, using the stories of past and present scientists to take our audiences on a journey of exploration from Liverpool to Africa and Asia – telling the tales of the medical breakthroughs that have saved millions of lives
