I am a Nigerian trained medical doctor with some years of clinical practice and public health research experience. I obtained my MBBS degree from Ebonyi State University Abakaliki, Nigeria. I also hold a Master of Public health from the University of Liverpool, UK which was graciously funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. Over the past few years, I have worked with the WHO in Nigeria coordinating Tuberculosis Surveillance and the COVID-19 incident management system in a state of over 6 million people.
My LIGHT research at LSTM will focus on ‘Development of gender sensitive TB screening interventions for community settings in Uganda and Nigeria’. I reckon that findings from the research will make a real difference in people’s lives and help countries fast-track their progress towards achieving the objectives of the End TB strategy. I will be based at the Zankli Research centre in Nigeria for duration of the research.
Other research interests include patient pathway analyses, disease surveillance, and health systems economics. My work will serve to create more inclusive health systems by modifying processes that serve to perpetuate the exclusion of persons and groups in need of care.
