Technical support to the BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Technology

Malawi, 2007-2009

LATH and LSTM are providing technical support to develop and implement the first Malawian BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. The course aims to provide Malawi with suitably qualified district laboratory managers. Our support has focused on the final two years of the course when the students are primarily based in district hospital laboratories developing the skills they will require to become effective laboratory managers.  The course is based on participatory, student-centred learning to ensure that participants have a rewarding and effective learning experience, and Malawi has a new generation of high quality laboratory managers able to improve diagnostic services where they are most needed.
