Snake of the week: the Eastern Green Mamba

Blog 17 Apr 2020

This week’s CSRI snake of the week is the Eastern Green Mamba (Dendroaspis angusticeps). In southern East Africa these snakes are traditionally arboreal, with potent neurotoxic venom.

It is uncommon for humans to experience bites from these snakes, they much prefer the taste of birds & small mammals. These snakes are oviparous, meaning that they lay eggs, which need to be incubated for approximately 3 months.
