Introduction to Travel Health Course 2016

A three-day course aimed at Practice Nurses, GPs and Pharmacists with an interest in travel medicine, who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in carrying out travel health risk assessments and how to provide travel health advice.  The course will cover the fundamentals of travel health and highlight any advances in the field of travel medicine.

Travel vaccines and the diseases they prevent Hilary Simons, Travel Health Nurse Advisor and Senior Travel Health Nurse Advisor at the National Travel Health Network and Centre UK
Malaria epidemiology and prevention Prof. David Lalloo, Dean of International Public Health and Clinical Sciences, LSTM
Sexually transmitted diseases and the traveller Dr Colm O’Mahoney, Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Principles of the immune response Dr Andrew Riordan, Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
Enteric Infections and the traveller Dr Nick Beeching, Clinical Director, Infectious Diseases, Royal Liverpool University Hospital NHS Trust
Complicated travellers Dr Lisa Ford, Medical Advisor for Well Travelled Clinics and the National Travel Health Network and Centre UK
