Natalie Tate is a Programme Manager in the Department for International Public Health (IPH).
Natalie is currently working with co-research directors, Prof Miriam Taegtmeyer and Dr Joanna Raven, to establish the Institute for Resilient Health Systems (IRHS), a new initiative aiming to build on and extend LSTM’s health systems research, education, and knowledge exchange programmes. Natalie is also leading the programme management for the NIHR-funded project ‘C-it Du-it’: a health systems study examining the potential of digital health and quality improvement methods to support community health workers and pregnant women in Western Kenya as well as the THET-funded project “Transforming the community health workforce strategy: A programme of mutual learning between Homabay County, Kenya and Liverpool”. She has extensive international experience in global health research project management, and a keen interest in capacity development to help address imbalances between partners in the global north and south.
Natalie joined LSTM in 2018 as a Project Manager in the Department of Clinical Sciences, where she worked closely with Professor Daniela Ferreria to manage multiple respiratory and lung health projects, reporting to funders, and overseeing the operational and financial management of various grants. Most notably in this role, she worked on the Covid 19 Oxford Vaccine Trials. In October 2021, Natalie moved over to IPH and joined the Centre for Childbirth, Women and New-Born Health to pursue her interests in this area of global health research. Working with Professor Dame Tina Lavender on multiple research projects relating to prevention of still birth, neonatal death, and care of bereaved parents in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. She has over 10 years’ experience working in global health research, managing research projects, clinical trials and funds from research councils including NIHR, MRC and Wellcome, as well as industry partners such as Pfizer and Unilever.
