Why study tropical medicine,infectious diseases and global health?
Tropical and infectious diseases affect more than a billion people worldwide, mainly in the world’s most disadvantaged communities. From malaria and tuberculosis to emerging infections and health systems strengthening, there is a growing need for skilled global health professionals.
Based in Liverpool, we have been training global health leaders since 1898. Our master’s programmes, professional diplomas and research degrees combine world-leading research with practical, real-world experience. We also know that funding postgraduate study can be a major barrier, which is why we have developed extensive scholarship and financial support.

For: International students from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)

Our flagship scholarship supports talented professionals from LMICs who are committed to returning home to improve health outcomes in their communities. It recognises academic excellence, leadership potential and a clear commitment to tackling health inequalities.

Harriette Kelso Scholarship
For nationals of Sierra Leone or Tanzania from a medical background applying for the Professional Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H), a globally recognised qualification in tropical medicine.
Mamco Selab Scholarship
For Nigerian students applying to diploma, master’s or PhD programmes, who plan to return to Nigeria to apply their learning and skills.
Annie Elizabeth Evans Memorial Scholarship
For applicants from India applying to the MSc Infectious Diseases and Global Health, helping to strengthen India–UK collaboration in tropical disease research and practice.

We are proud to be based in the North of England and are committed to widening access to postgraduate study in our region. The Northern Futures Bursary reduces tuition fees to make world-class tropical medicine and global health education more accessible to our local communities.

This scholarship supports professionals who want to advance their global health careers without taking a break from work. You can study part-time, online, from anywhere in the world while gaining a globally relevant qualification.
For: UK and international nursing professionals
Courses: Professional Diploma in Tropical Nursing (online)

These scholarships are designed for nurses working in, or planning to work in, tropical and low-resource settings. They support career development in tropical nursing practice and help nurses build skills that directly benefit the communities they serve.

This scholarship is designed for working professionals who cannot relocate to Liverpool. Our online MSc Global Health offers the same high-quality education as our on-campus programmes, with the flexibility to study from anywhere in the world while you continue your career.
Additional financial support
Alumni loyalty discount
If you have already studied at LSTM, you may be eligible for an alumni discount on tuition fees for further study. We value lifelong learning and are keen to support our graduates to continue their professional development.
Intercalating student discount
Medical, dentistry and veterinary students can choose to intercalate at LSTM after three years of study. We offer reduced tuition fees to support intercalating students to gain specialist experience in tropical medicine and global health.
