Speaker: With nearly a decade of postgraduate clinical experience across lower-middle and high-income countries, I have developed a robust, real-time understanding of global infectious diseases. My research contributions span high-impact studies, including the RECOVERY and HEAL-COVID 19 trials (as Site Associate Principal Investigator), the SMASH study on antimicrobial funding, ENCEPH IG, TB meningitis, and multiple ISARIC projects. My primary focus is in neurological infections, particularly tuberculous meningitis and its long-term sequelae. I am currently engaged in the Adult Post-CNS TB project as part of the Neuromuscular working group including:

Sylviane Defres (Joint Group Lead), James Seddon, Felicia Chow, Suzaan Marais, Angharad Davis, Suzanne Anderson, Carien Bekker, Julie Huynh and Jordan Lakey.

Topic: During the 3rd International Post-TB Symposium held on 14-16th April 2025 in Stellenbosch, South Africa, one of the post-Central Nervous System Tuberculosis (Post-CNS TB) Working Group sessions focused on developing an adult post-CNS TB morbidity survey which included: Research definitions, follow up assessments (health-related quality of life (HRQoL)), socio-economic impact and research priorities. In particular, the survey aimed to mirror what was done in the paediatric post-CNS TB survey with the aim of determining what evaluation tools and support structures are present in different settings and then develop a consensus statement to advance research in this area.
