Mariska Leeflang graduated as a vet in 2003 and got her PhD in Systematic reviews of diagnostic test accuracy in 2008. She helped set up the Cochrane Diagnostic Test Accuracy Working Group, and is an important contributor to the development of meta-analysis methods. She also worked for the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, to set up an in-house training in test evaluation research. Mariska is co-convenor of Cochrane's Screening and Diagnosis Methods Group, member of Cochrane's Methods Executive and member of the GRADE working group.

Mariska’s methodological work focuses on test comparisons and interpretation of accuracy reviews. Recent projects involve the application of GRADE to accuracy reviews, development of Plain Language summaries for diagnostic accuracy reviews and automated searching for accuracy studies.
